The Birth of the Low Down

September 19th, 2023

Nothing caters to a self-reflective episode more than a new environment.

A different space, a foreign ambiance and a little bit of silence is the perfect recipe to get my favorite brain cell working overtime. I'm currently in one of my favorite places to tune inward; Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn.

There's something incredibly grounding about being next to the abundance of a Park and yet bewilderingly adjacent to the best city in the world. To me, Windsor Terrace is charmingly wholesome, deliberately welcoming and peacefully tranquil.

The reason for this staycation is a culmination of all that. I am dog sitting one of my favorite little creatures: Miss Mona. It's funny because by nature, I've always been more attuned to small dogs.

After all, they're vivacious, easy to carry, and match my energy to its highest degree. But that's not to say that bigger dogs can't keep up with me, it's actually the opposite. They tend to burn right through my midnight candle which is exactly what I've been yearning for.

I've noticed time and time again that when you allow yourself to put down the walls, the facades, and the need to perform -- you're usually met with a sense of newfound clarity.

I particularly feel it in the morning when the autumn breeze awakes my dormant goosebumps. Or as I fearlessly trek through the earthy meadows and soft weathered trails. But its presence becomes especially apparent as Mona and I embrace the shared silence of a comforting night in.

Revelations were had to say the least. From where I've been, where I am, and where I'm going.

I know my purpose in this world is to share my words. To celebrate the chaos and the peace. To marvel at the insane synchronicities of the universe. To find meaning in the mundane. And to charge towards the twists and turns that make up the plot of my life.

Which leads to me to the final stop of this train of thought..the birth of my online journal. My formal invitation to the deepest vicinities of my musings, thoughts, and feelings.

If you've made it this far, I thank you. What awaits is laughs, adventures, and most importantly "The Low Down".
